Blueberry Muffin Smoothie – Dairy Free, Vegan and Paleo

Blueberry Muffin Smoothie – Dairy Free, Vegan and Paleo

blueberry muffin smoothie dairy-free vegan paleo fiber antioxidant breakfast

Blueberries are such a glorious fruit. Of all the fruits, berries are my favorite. They are full of antioxidants, fiber and are just so darn pretty. Combine with flax seed for a fiber rich, filling, delicious smoothie.

blueberry muffin smoothie dairy-free vegan paleo fiber antioxidant breakfast Dairy-free, vegan and paleo. A healthy way to start the day or a delicious dessert treat. I was in the mood for a super sweet smoothie so I added 1 packet of organic stevia, stirred it in and it was perfect. That being said, this smoothie was already pretty sweet made without it.

Cinnamon Roll Smoothie – Dairy Free, Vegan and Paleo

Cinnamon Roll Smoothie – Dairy Free, Vegan and Paleocinnamon roll smoothie paleo vegan dairy free almond milk banana

I especially like this smoothie on Sunday mornings because it reminds me of the cinnamon rolls my Grammy used to make after church. Delicious, healthy, dairy-free, vegan and paleo smoothie here. It also makes a great after-workout smoothie because of the potassium from the bananas.

I keep individual baggies of pre-sliced bananas in my freezer all the time so that I have them available any time because I use them in lots of different recipes. If you don’t have any pre-frozen bananas, they only take an hour or so to freeze.

Easy Being Green Paleo Protein Shake

Easy Being Green Paleo Protein Shake

protein shake paleo coconut banana spinach fiber vanilla potassium

One of my favorite breakfasts besides a hot cuppa joe is a delicious protein shake. They just start me off right.  I make this shake for a sweet snack too.

This is one of my most made shakes because it’s simple, has protein, potassium, a little calcium and good fats. Paleo, vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free and surprisingly filling at only about 160 calories. Oh and I didn’t even mention how sweet, creamy and delicious it is.

Since the weather is gets warmer, I’ll be ramping up my shake/smoothie intake. My Nutribullet is going to be very busy.

The next super hot day I’m absolutely making my Healthy Chocolate Shake which happens to taste just like a Wendy’s Frosty, just sayin’.

Healthy Chocolate Shake – Tastes Like a Frosty

Healthy Chocolate Shake – Tastes Like a Frosty

healthy chocolate shake frosty banana chia seed cocoa frozenI found this recipe at RabbitFoodformyBunnyTeeth.com and wanted to test it out for myself. It was really good but I made a couple minor adjustments for my taste.

TIPS:

  • The recipe calls for a frozen banana right? Well I put a whole banana, peel and all in the freezer. When I took the banana out of the freezer, it was so frozen solid that I couldn’t get the peel off. Oops. Learn from me and pre-peel and slice the banana before freezing. They freeze up faster this way too, it doesn’t take long at all. Maybe a couple of hours or so. I’ve got a couple separate baggies of bananas in my freezer so I have them on hand for when I’m craving these.

  • The frozen banana really adds to the “frostiness” of the shake making it thicker so I absolutely recommend it although you can use a room temperature banana. The shake will just be more liquid but still super chocolaty good.
  • healthy chocolate shake chia seed frosty banana almond milk vanillaI also used a whole teaspoon of chia seeds to thicken it up even more. The chia seeds get blended up entirely that you can’t even tell they are. Any time I can incorporate more chia into my diet, I do it.
  • I added 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. It made the shake even richer.
  • I also added a packet of organic stevia to my husband’s shake because he likes very sweet things but mine was sweet enough for me without it. It’s your preference.

organic stevia

YUM-EEE is all I can say about this shake. It’s chocolaty AND healthy AND filling AND chocolaty! Did I say chocolaty?

The kiddies will LOVE these too and never suspect they are healthy. I have a feeling I will be making a LOT of these this summer.

{ I suppose you could experiment with some ‘adult spirits’ like Baileys in place of the almond milk and have yourself a deliciously intoxicating shake on a warm summer night. }

Recipe type: Shake, Paleo, Vegan
Serves: 1
Ingredients
  • 1 cup original unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana (see tip for the frozen banana)
  • 1½ tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ - 1 teaspoon chia seeds (I used a whole teaspoon)
  • 1 - 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract (I used 2 for more richness)
  • 10 - 15 ice cubes (The more ice, the thicker it is. I used 15 and it was thick like a frosty)
  • **Optional: 1 packet of stevia**
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients in your blender or Nutribullet until all the ice is blended and smooth.
  2. If your shake isn't sweet enough for your taste, you can always add a packet of stevia but mine was very chocolaty and frosty-like without it.
